Flute, Recorder and Piano Lessons

An accomplished flautist, pianist and recorder player, Laraine has over 35 years' experience inspiring musicians of all ages to achieve their musical potential.

She studied flute at the University of Manchester under Richard Davis, Principal Flautist of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra for 30 years and now a highly respected orchestral conductor. She graduated with a 2:1 Bachelor of Music with Honours.

Alongside her musical training, Laraine also completed a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management (MA HRM) in London and became a Graduate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). She later gained the ABRSM Certificate for Music Educators (CME level 4), demonstrating her continuing commitment to excellence in music education.

Laraine's own musical achievements began at an early age. She was awarded Grade 8 Flute at the age of 13, followed by Grade 8 Piano with Distinction at 17, and most recently in 2025 achieved Grade 8 Recorder with Distinction, reflecting her lifelong passion for learning and professional development.

As both a performer and teacher, Laraine combines exceptional musical training with extensive teaching experience. She has successfully prepared countless students for MTB and ABRSM examinations, music scholarships, competitions, auditions and performances, with many pupils achieving Distinctions and gaining places at leading schools and specialist music programmes.

Laraine was principal flautist in the Reading Youth Orchestra, Berkshire Youth Wind Orchestra and Berkshire Youth Orchestra. As a Berkshire county music scholar, she won many competitions and awards before going to University.

A mother of two, Laraine’s teaching is warm, encouraging and individually tailored, helping every student to develop confidence, secure technique, musical understanding and, above all, a lifelong enjoyment of music.
